The district officials are finding tough to minimise the huge gender gap in the electoral rolls which weighs heavily in the favour of men.
Officials acknowledged that the ratio between women to men in the electoral roll in Bokaro constituency is awful and a special drive needs to be conducted to minimize the gap as soon as possible. Sandeep Kumar District Election Officer said, “We are working on war-foot basis to complete the target by 15 November.”
Drive to add names of voters who have been left out across the constituency is also on, he said.
Booth level officers (BlOs) have been trained and they been asked to visit door-to-door to add names of those women who have been left out. Voters whose names have not been included to the voters’ list or want to make corrections in existing EPICs can fill the Forms (8 or 6) from any PDS shops, BlOs, Mukhiya, Anganwadi sevikas and sahayikas, he said.
