On the eve of World Plastic Surgery Day on July 15, renowned plastic surgeon Dr. SA Warsi has dispelled many misconceptions about plastic surgery prevailing in the society along with along with sharing new innovation and information about this medical practice. During an interaction organized at Aura Clinic, Dr Warsi said that the purpose of World Plastic Surgery Day is to increase awareness about this medical practice and provide accurate information to the people.

Dr. Warsi believes that plastic surgery is not limited to enhancing beauty only. Only 10 percent of plastic surgery is cosmetic surgery. Plastic surgery is used to correct congenital disorders such as cleft lip and palate, more or less fingers and damaged organs after injury, burns, cancer and disease.

It focuses especially on the reconstruction and improvement of various parts of the body. It also includes the treatment of congenital disorders such as cleft lip, cleft palate, lack of limbs or other deformities.

Plastic surgery also plays an important role in repairing damage caused by injuries such as broken bones or amputated limbs. After removing cancerous tissues from various parts of the body, plastic surgery is also used to reconstruct these organs.

Dr. Warsi says that due to lack of awareness, people prefer general surgeons or hospital where plastic surgeons are not available. In such a situation, many times the patient gets delayed in reaching the plastic surgeon and the result is not as accurate as it should be. He emphasizes that in the case of plastic surgery, one must ensure that the surgeon is certified and has experience.
