Keeping the motto of ‘Service Before Self’ alive, one of the prestigious cradles of the State Capital, Delhi Public School, Ranchi, entered in its 29th year on Monday. The glorious journey that began on July 17, 1989 with merely 400 students and 18 staffs has been able to script several success stories. From ensuring academic excellence to creating arena for cultural activities for overall development of students, setting benchmark for all contemporaries, the school has registered its presence in various national and international competitions.
Highlighting on some of the achievements of the school, Principal, Dr. Ram Singh on the Foundation Day, said, “The school that was initiated with the aim to impart education to the children of SAIl employees has set a mark in the field of school education covering students from different backgrounds. As many as 20,000 students have passed out from the School till date,” said Singh.
Extending gratitude towards the Founder Members, Managing committee members including all the former Principals, Singh further said, “It is due to the members and Former Principals that this institution has been developed into a huge and strong banyan trees. It is the matter of immense pleasure that today the school has emerged as one of the best schools in India. Thus, we stand as a school with a difference.”
Meanwhile besides the address and word of encouragement by the dignitaries like Jharkhand legislative Assembly, Speaker, Dinesh Oraon who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, Minister Urban development, CP Singh, Education Minister, NeeraYadav, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, RamchandraChandravanshi, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Saryu Roy, Minister, Drinking water and sanitation, CP Chaudhary including Minister Agriculture, Randhir Singh, the colourful cultural performance by DPS students enthralled the audiences.
The cultural fiesta was based on the theme “We are the World” and was marked by a series of exotic talents thus creating a festive mood. The instrumental music of the back score has been adopted from the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘Summer of 69’ which is the harbinger and precursor for today’s programme.
The cultural program continued with the display of a variety of international dance forms which included the power packet Chinese Dance, the disciplined Russian Ballet, the percussive and Technical latin Tap, the glamorous Flaminco, the fun filled African Dance and the sizzling Arabian Dance were a feast for the eyes. Also exquisite dance forms of ancient India - Bharatnatyam and Odissi which left the audience awestruck with their magical postures and graceful ‘mudras’. A powerful display of rhythmic yoga was put up by the students highlighting the importance of physical and mental well-being of every individual.
The whole show was successfully compeered by Gurmeet, Raunaq Prakash, Aditya Bose, Kunal Roy, Naman Modi, Sarthak Wadhwa, Tabishi Garodia etc.
later in the event the school magazine for the primary and senior section were released by the honorable guests.
Speaking on this occasion Chief Guest Dinesh Oraon congratulated the Principal and said that it was heartening to learn that the students of DPS, Ranchi have spread all over the world, thereby keeping the name and fame of Jharkhand and their alma mater flying high. He emphasized on the fact that true education means selfless service to the nation. He also gave his good wishes and blessings to the students of DPS.
Health Minister Ram Chandra Chandravanshi said that he was content and gratified by the splendid show put up by the students of Delhi Public School, Ranchi. He also appreciated the commendable performance of the school and said that DPS Ranchi is not only a big name in the state but in the nation as well.
Urban Development Minister Chandreshwar Prasad Singh said that it’s a matter of immense pride that this school not only imparts quality education to the one’s staying in Ranchi but also to the children staying in the neighbouring states as well. He was all praise for the principal of the school because it is his hard work and dedication that has taken DPS Ranchi to such great heights.
