DPR for three flyovers gathering dust

Published on:

Congestion free roads and freedom from traffic snarls in different part of Ranchi is turning out to be a farfetched dream with no detectable progress on the detailed project report (DPR) of the three flyovers that were cleared during the regime of Arjun Munda.

The Engineer-in-Chief, Road Construction Department, Ram Naresh Raman sad, “The DPR of the project is lying with the Government so I cannot comment further.”

The proposed flyovers will be constructed near Sujata Chowk, Firayalal Chowk and lalpur Chowk for Rs 63 crore, Rs 22 crore and Rs 29 crore, respectively.

The flyovers, an ambitious plan of previous Government, were conceived to ease pressure on two important stretches, Main Road and lalpur. The flyovers in Ranchi’s Main Road, where commuting becomes difficult due to frequent traffic congestions at several points, were touted as a gift to the city.

Incidentally, Bangalore based firm Secon Private limited was assigned the work of preparing DPR and feasibility report for the construction of flyover passing through Firayalal Chowk.

The DPR-cum-feasibility report for the construction of flyover passing through Sujata and lalpur Chowk was assigned Suncun Engineers Private limited, a Pune-based Firm.
