To contain the spread of Covid-19 in urban and rural areas, the health department has asked department personnel to take up door-to-door visits and conduct Rapid Antigen Tests, True- Nat and RT-PCR. As part of the preventive measures for the third wave of Covid-19, the department has set a target to conduct 10,000 tests this week.
A communique issued by DC Suraj Kumar said that every Monday 1400 True-Nat tests in urban areas and 1350 tests in rural areas. From Tuesday to Friday RT-PCR tests will be conducted comp-rising 1400 in urban and 1440 in rural areas. On Saturday 2800 RAT tests in urban areas and 1800 in rural areas will be conducted.
Kumar said that doorstep tracing and testing is among the various steps to be taken by the administration to contain COVID-19 in rural and urban areas.
District civil surgeon, AK Lal noted: “We should go door to door and test. That is the best way to detect the disease early and contain its spread. The recent decline is a big relief for us. However, we do not want to give a letdown. Our focus is on three Ts Testing, Tracing and Treatment that led to controlling the prevailing situation”.
He went on to add that the administration has decided to test everyone in the district to prevent community spread of the disease. More tests would only help the administration to prevent further spread of the disease.
Meanwhile, an official said that they are also focusing on contact tracing in view of a possible third wave. He noted that there are some cases where those who gave samples also gave false addresses and wrong phone numbers. This should be avoided. Wrong addresses will create difficulties in ensuring home isolation or treatment of patients. Officers should verify addresses and get alternative phone numbers.
