Gyanendra Neeraj, AGM SEBI, Ranchi, while addressing a gathering of PG Commerce and Economics departments of VBU on Sunday cautioned investors about frauds in the disguise of lucrative returns. “These days news of customers being cheated by companies has become a common phenomenon in almost all parts of the country. The main cause of this cheat or fraud is the latent greed in everyone’s mind. Those who are involved in such frauds are exploiting this weakness of the common man. So before investment everyone should check about the organisation in which he or she is going to invest. The greed of more return can take away your hard earned money,” he said.
Neeraj spoke on the topic “Investment Why and HowIJ” Illustrating the role of SEBI in making the investors aware and in controlling such fraud companies. He said that the role of an investor is most important in checking illegal activities of the companies.Distinguished Guest of this seminar Deputy Director of National Stock Exchange, Patna, Gaurav Motwani said that there is a myth about the stock exchange that only some persons are allowed here to sell and purchase the stocks. It is totally wrong, he clearly said that any Indian citizen can  sell and purchase stocks through the stock exchange.
Motwani gave a detailed idea of the process after completing which anyone can start the business of sell and purchase of stocks through National Stock Exchanges. Talking about investment he said that the stocks had given more return than any other investment in last 5-10 years. However he added that without having good knowledge of stocks and companies, investment here would be risky.
VC Prof Gurdeep Singh and Pro VC Dr MP Sinha welcomed the guests and hoped that this seminar cum workshop will help the students of commerce and economics departments because in both subjects there are many topics in the syllabus which are directly or indirectly related with investment and security.
