Domicile policy worked greatly in locals' favour: CM

Chief Minister Raghubar Das tried to take the wind out of JMM’s sails and other Opposition parties while strongly backing his Government’s decision to frame out a domicile policy. He made a claim that about 80 per cent of those appointed since the policy has come into force in the State belonged to Jharkhand only.

Retorting to the JMM leader Hemant Soren’s allegations made inside the House primarily over CNT-SPT amendments and domicile policy, the Chief Minister threw a challenge to his predecessor.

“14 years have been passed and no domicile policy could be framed by the parties to prefix Jharkhand ahead of their names. You did not care for unemployed of the State for so long. Over 80 per cent of those who got jobs in the Government are Jharkhandis. 35,000 youths have been appointed at present and 45,000 more would be appointed based on the policy,” said the CM on Tuesday in the House that is marred by the continuous disruption from the JMM.

This brought the CM face to face with the leader of Opposition who went on charging the Government for playing with the present and future of the tribal and peasant communities. The JMM members carrying ploughs made of thermocol first protested outside the House and later tried to enter inside before being apprehended.

“Every act of the Government is against the wellbeing of the poor. You have taken the soul out of the CNT-SPT Acts through the amendments and turned these into living corpuses. Plight of the farmers is evident with pictures throwing their tomato on road have been widely published,” said Soren and at the same time also pitched strongly for revoking the suspension of four Opposition MlAs from the Assembly.

This irked the CM even further. “Jharkhandi parties have cheated the poor, unemployed and tribals of the State a lot so far. But now tribals are wakening up. Your pain in only this,” he hit out. Moreover the statement infuriated the agitating JMM members even further leading to third adjournment of the day.

later BJP MlA Shiv Shankar Oraon raised putting new condition related to stipend paid to ST students which has made it mandatory for them to score at least 50 per cent. The CM assured the member to look into the matter.
