‘Medical oxygen is not ceiling or table fan air which one loves taking high for comfort’ said a noted physician Dr R K Ranjan.
Ranjan said medical oxygen has a dose and neither its overflow or underflow is any good for any one’s health. Its flow is to be in accordance with the medical need of the body of the patient.
Strongly supporting the version of Ranjan the civil surgeon in charge Anil Kumar Srivastav said oxygen is a medicine and it is to be taken with care and caution.
Srivastav said any abuse of the oxygen is bound to create a series of numerous other health hazards affecting brain and lungs.
Ranjan said oxygen support is to be intermittent depending upon the severity of the case but attendants want it to be given at high flow to their patients and that too continuously.
Srivastav and Ranjan agreed there is a crisis of medical oxygen and hence its use must be medically judicious.
Close on the heels of the ‘oxygen havoc’ as described by the civil surgeon Srivastav there is the Ramdesivir injection which too is ‘demanded’ by the attendants most for their patients.
Srivastav said there is a conception among the attendants that Ramdesivir injection will get their Covid patients rid of the infection.
