Anemia is the most common ailment with girls, women and children in the rural of Palamu said a noted doctor Amit Prakash here.
Prakash said, “Recently I had been to a village in lesliganj block where I found a woman languishing with having just 4.25 gram of Hgb ( hemoglobin) . It was a wonder to see her as she did not know that she had such a huge shortage of blood in her.” He said she could regain her 10 to 11 gram of Hgb if she has wherewithal to buy food for her.
Malnutrition is the major cause of poor gram of Hgb here. The doctor said the poor too can eat well without going for high price fruits etc but lack of awareness just hits them the hard way.
Prakash further said, “In Western countries like USA, UK etc cases of breast cancer are on the rise there as mothers avoid giving breast feed to their infants while here in the rural of Palamu a mother takes pride in giving breast feed and thus has less chance of getting struck by cancer. “
“Unfortunately uterine cancer here is on the up scale in Palamu,” added Prakash. A Russian educated Amit Prakash just wants to be a part of political crucible in Palamu and has set his eyes on Panki assembly constituency for the coming assembly election there. He is meeting people and asking them to be aware of their health and surroundings like cleanliness and potable drinking water etc.
Prakash’s route to politics is through medical checkup of people that he meets either in his clinic or goes out to meet them in remote areas, medicines & advice to live a simple and healthy life. A resident of Kandi block in Garhwa district this Russian educated doctor feels more comfortable and attached to lesliganj under Panki assembly constituency since his father who too was a doctor AK Upadhaya had served people of lesliganj for 40 years and this old association helps this Amit Prakash to reach out to all sections of people in this Panki assembly constituency.
