The Dhanbad municipal corporation has ordered cancellation of parking near the city centre from immediate effect. The announcement to this effect was made today near the city centre by municipal authorities and people were directed not to pay the parking charges henceforth.
The decision was taken following the directive of the Road Safety Committee (RSC) that had directed it to do so. It had raised objections as entire parking is on road and was posing a safety threat for drivers.
DMC town commissioner Satyendra Kumar while confirming this said that the RSC had raised objections over parking on road at three locations including Bank More, near Big Bazar and City centre. The removal of city centre parking would lead to loss of Rs 20 lakhs annually to the corporation, he said.
It’s worth mentioning here that the area is too busy due to a roundabout and inter district bus stand nearby. The one way traffic system added to the traffic congestion here tbus parking was posing threat to road safety.
