DLSA comes to rescue accident survivor child in Palamu

Published on:

Palamu district legal services authority (PDLSA) finally woke up for the three year old child Kirti Kumari who lost her left leg in a run over by a goods train at Japla railway station under Moghulsarai division when her mother Geeta Devi had jumped before this train on the day of Diwali with one more child of her resulting in the instantaneous death of the mother and her one child while Kirti Kumari remains a miraculous survivor.

Sources said the chairman of the DLSA, Palamu, Pradip Kumar Choubey, principal district and sessions judge (PDJ) on getting information of this episode alerted secretary of the DLSA who then rushed in his one senior assistant Sanjiv Kumar and one para legal volunteer Bhagirath Dubey to the Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) Daltonganj where Kirti is undergoing treatment to ‘see & find things being done for this child’.

Sources said Kirti was by then like any other patient but with the intervention of the PDJ and his functionaries reaching the MMCH a flurry of activities came up in connection with this girl child with a sudden sense of responsibility.

Sources said she was prescribed antibiotics that were not available in the MMCH and the child had none by then by her side to spend money to buy it from the market.

Sources said deputy medical superintendent MMCH K N Singh on learning that PDJ Choubey has his eyes and ears for this case too swung into action and phoned surgeon Sushil Pandey and physician R K Ranjan to make available medicines from their own ‘cup boards’ where lie physician samples of medicines given to them by the MRs (medical representatives).

K N Singh said, “I have asked the doctors to see that this child does not languish for medicine. Give her medicines from your own private stock.”

Singh said, “The child is stable. Her bleeding has stopped. She has lost her left leg. She will be given due dressing by para medics.  We are monitoring her case and then take a final call if she needs to be sent to RIMS Ranchi.” Civil surgeon John F Kennedy said this child has got one unit of blood from the blood bank, which has been asked to be ready with blood for her 24x7 without any fuss.

Sources said PDJ Choubey’ spurring saw the arrival of CWC (child welfare committee) in the MMCH which also took note of the welfare and future of this child. Sources said the survivor child now is an ‘entity’ in MMCH following the pursuance of her case by the top of the judiciary here.

Bandhu Yadav grandfather of Kirti has petitioned CWC and PDLSA both for help in treatment of her granddaughter as Yadav has expressed his inability to bear medical expenses due to his jejune poverty.
