To foster scientific thinking among young minds and help them develop interest innovation in science, the East Singhbhum district education department organised a programme of the department of science and technology. As a part of the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE), the district level science exhibition was organised at the Gurunanak High School in Sakchi. INSPIRE is a national programme implemented by the Government to attract talent amongst students to study science and pursue career with research.

Kolhan division commissioner, Pramod Kumar Gupta inaugurated the one day exhibition. East Singhbhum district education officer (DEO), R.K.P. Singh and other officials of the education department were also present.

More than 180 students from classes VI, VII, VIII, IX and X from about 150 schools showcased their science models at the exhibition. Some schools from adjoining districts Seraikela-Kharswan and West Singhbhum also participated in the exhibition.

Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) is an innovative programme sponsored and managed by the Department of Science & Technology for attraction of talent to Science. The basic objective of INSPIRE is to communicate to the youth of the country the excitements of creative pursuit of science, attract talent to the study of science at an early age and thus build the required critical human resource pool for strengthening and expanding the Science & Technology system and R&D base.

A striking feature of the programme is that it does not believe in conducting competitive exams for identification of talent at any level. It believes in and relies on the efficacy of the existing educational structure for identification of talent.
