The Ranchi district administration has decided to intensify vaccination drive in the State Capital and in this connection several new steps are going to be introduced.

The district administration has decided to increase slots booking at vaccination centres. Presently, 100 people are getting vaccine doses on the basis of slot bookings, but now 200 people will be vaccinated based on online slot bookings.

Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan took this decision in a meeting with senior administrative officers.  The district administration also decided to set up five additional vaccination centers in rural areas. Presently, the district administration has set up more than 50 vaccination centres at different blocks and city area limits. However, now the district administration has decided to increase the number of vaccination centres.

Vaccination will be intensified to provide corona safety shields to people in rural areas. For this, five additional vaccination centres will be set up in all the blocks. The DC has directed all the BDOs to prepare for the vaccination by selecting the location in the blocks. He said waiting halls, vaccination rooms and observation rooms have been asked to be prepared at additional centres.

The Ranchi district administration apart from this is also going to intensify vaccination during the weekend.

The target is to vaccinate 9,920 people on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Among them, people 18 to 45 years and above 45 years of age are to be vaccinated. Therefore, arrangements will be made to increase the slots.

DC has directed DRCHO Shashibhushan to increase and organise the number of slots. Apart from this, DDC and AC Naxals were instructed to make arrangements for vaccination at large places.

A vaccination centre will be set up for those above the age of 45 at the Birsa Munda Football Stadium in Morhabadi. Here people above 45 years of age will be vaccinated on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of every week.

There will be a seating arrangement for people with social distancing in the stadium premises and observation room along with waiting room will also be made.

During the meeting, the officials were informed that there is resentment among people for getting vaccinated at several villages. There are many misconceptions among the villagers regarding vaccination. DC said that wide publicity should be done in all the blocks. Make people aware about the benefits of vaccination, so that the misconceptions spread among them are dispelled.

Sources said that the district administration is also going to carry out an awareness drive in rural areas for vaccination and in this connection a campaign in rural areas will be launched. The district administration's drive to create vaccine awareness assumes importance as recently, at Murhu block of Khunti district, a vaccination team gone to the village for vaccination was attacked by villagers.
