East Singhbhum district administration is all set to place a strict security arrangement with a special focus on eve teasing and hooligans during the Ramnavami festival. The administration as part of its security measures has decided to introduce electronic surveillance during Ramnavami procession to keep an eye on rowdy elements, who often create nuisance, during the religious procession especially as it passes through communally sensitive areas.

A total of 12 CCTV cameras will be put up during Ramnavami procession on March 28. “We want to ensure foolproof security arrangements. We have decided to install 12 CCTV cameras on important roads. This would be in addition to the CCTV cameras already installed on roads of Sakchi and Bistupur by the district police to keep an eye on trouble mongers. Recordings would be observed by city police at the police control room,” said SDO Dhalbhum Prem Ranjan.

DC Amitabh Kaushal said that arrangements were in place to provide uninterrupted power supply but added that Akharas committee should ensure that electricity pilferage should be stopped and pending amount cleared with power supplier.  The Deputy Commissioner also asked Akharas committee to submit a list of such areas with hanging electricity wires to help electricity officials in installing guard wires on such points.

The administration is serious in ensuring first aid and ambulance services during the festivity and the procession. Directives were issued to all the Akharas committees to strictly abide by the rules laid out in their licences especially pertaining to use of loudspeakers (public amplifiers).

“We have also decided to depute 11 ambulances at strategic locations leading to different ghats across the city and its outskirts to administer first aid and basic treatment,” added the SDO Dhalbhum.

The administration has also directed the respective local urban bodies, Jusco and drinking water and sanitation department for arranging water tankers during procession. A police official said that all police stations had been directed to interact with local Akharas committee on a regular basis for a peaceful festival.

District administration has fallen back on corporate help to tide over water exigencies during Ramnavami festival earlier it was only Jusco who was asked to provide water through tankers to various akharas taking out Ramnavami processions. But this time different corporate sectors have been asked to provide water tankers for water supply in their nearby areas.

Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee and Jusco will make arrangements for water tankers in city while Mango Notified Area Committee and Jugsalai municipality would make arrangement of water tankers in Mango and Jugsalai area respectively. Jusco has also been instructed to clean ghats.
