In a meeting held on late Monday evening, North Chotanagpur Commissioner SS Meena directed bank officials to distribute maximum number of Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) to the peasants of North Chotanagpur division by July 15, 2014 and try to achieve the target given to them.
He also directed the DC, DDC, agriculture officers and other concerned officers of all the districts of the division to work in coordination with the bank officials so that the peasants of this region can easily get loans from the bank for their agriculture purposes.
This meeting was organised by Bank of India especially to discuss on increasing loan facility in the rural areas for agriculture purposes as per the directive of Agriculture Ministry of Jharkhand Government and for constitution of a task force which will look after this issue. The senior GM of Bank of India, In-Charge of both Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, said that easy loans for agriculture to the peasants will certainly increase production which will bring prosperity in the rural areas and the credit of banks will also increase in the villages. He appealed to the bank officials to work in coordination with the local administration so that the needy ones could get loans easily.
In this meeting as per the direction of Agriculture Ministry a divisional level task force was constituted. Commissioner will act as the chairperson of this committee. All the Deputy Collectors, DDCs, zonal managers of banks, lDM of the division have been selected as the members of this committee. It was decided that this committee will review the progress after every three months.
In this meeting MD of Central Cooperative Bank, AGM of State Bank of India, Zonal Manager BOI Hazaribagh Amit Roy, Bokaro and Dhanbad and S Jaiswal of SlBC district coordinators of all the banks, lDM Nabard and other concerned officials of entire North Chotanagpur division were present along with the officials of district administrations.
