Ranchi district administration and members of various organisations associated with Jagganath Temple sat together on Wednesday to finalise strategies for organising the upcoming festival of Rath Yatra.

Chaired by Sub-Divisional Officer Aditya Anand and attended by several district and police officials, the

meeting focussed on various aspects associated with holding Rath Yatra festival at Jagannath Temple in Dhurwa and the nine-day long fair that is organised on this occasion at the ground near the temple.

Members of Rath Mela Suraksha Samiti urged Anand to ensure adequate lighting arrangements along the thoroughfares leading to temple and fair ground. They demanded that faulty street lamps should be replaced along with installing new ones.

Presently, the arrangements are being held up to some extent due to the ongoing work on nine thoroughfares around the temple, told Praveer Shahdeo, heir to the temple’s founder, he said.

“Once finished, these roads will facilitate movement of devotees towards the temple. This will increase the speed of vehicles on these routes and help counter traffic logjams originating from bad roads,” added Shahdeo.
