The Ranchi district administration is looking for volunteer doctors to fight the coronavirus outbreak which has infected more than 41,000 people in Ranchi and has taken more than 295 lives. The Ranchi district administration on Monday issued an appeal to medical practitioners serving in the private and public sector and retired doctors and health workers to come forward for voluntary service during the corona pandemic. The district administration through a notice which is viral in social media and other platforms states that physicians and other medical practitioners desirous of voluntary service can contact on mobile number 96 93 29 2889.
The Ranchi district administration has made the appeal as the infection progresses; there is a huge shortage of health workers and physicians. The district administration appeal reveals the picture at private and government hospitals, as there is no one to see the patients in the hospitals. The family members of the patients themselves are doing the work from giving medicines to offering oxygen. At many places, health services have not started despite facilities being available in hospitals.
Also at many places there is arrangement of ventilator machines, but in absence of skilled health workers the patients are not provided the services of ventilators. A digital poster has been designed in this regard by the Ranchi District Administration. Medical expert, health workers wishing to provide service can provide information on DC Ranchi's Twitter handle @dc_ranchi.
Meanwhile, Indian Medical Association (IMA) has welcomed the Ranchi district administration's appeal to doctors for voluntary service. IMA state general secretary, Dr Pradeep Singh said, “We appreciate the district administration's appeal for private and retired doctors to render their services. IMA is with the state government as last year too IMA walked hand in hand with the state government.”
However, he said that as cases of corona are increasing day by day it is not with the state government or IMA to control the pandemic unless and until people cooperate. He said, “The situation will become alarming if government protocol on Covid such as use of sanitizers, wearing of masks, and social distancing is not followed.”
Meanwhile, Corona continues to wreak havoc in Jharkhand, with the State recording 21 corona deaths on Sunday, while 2296 fresh cases were recovered. Out of this 1076 infected people have been found from Ranchi which is the highest ever.
Also, the health department has decided to increase the number of corona test centers. Department Secretary KK Saon has also issued a directive in this regard.
