We are performing our duties with our best of capacity despite several constraints such as staff-crunch, lack of infrastructure facilities etc, but it seems that you are not satisfied with our working which is reflected through your erratic and arrogant behavior and unparliamentary utterances in almost all meetings which do not seem to be academic and official. In the last meeting held on 24.03.2015 at 10:00 am such behaviuor appeared through your direction that “you should resign from the post”. Moreover, you have stifled the autonomy of Deans, HODs and do not allow us to participate in any academic activities outside the university. Under the circumstances, we tender our resignation from the posts of Deans and HODs for your kind acceptance. However, we will act as teacher in the respective departments. Hope it will facilitate you to appoint new Deans and Heads.
These are not the only the words or sentences but are the lava of the volcano boiling inside yet and erupted on Wednesday in VBU against the present university administration headed by VC Prof Gurdeep Singh. When contacted the VC first refused of any such happening and blamed the media as his old habit that “you people are not the well-wishers of VBU”. But soon changed his stand and said “it is our family matter and we will solve it amicably.”
As the content of the resignation letter indicates the teachers of VBU including heads and deans are not pleased with the working style of Prof Singh and his team since long but the meeting called by him on March 24th proved fatal for this long hidden displeasure. Sources said that in the 24th meeting the VC once again used the language which pinched everyone. On that day HOD Anthropology Prof. AH Ansari was on his target. Hurt with the behavior of VC Prof. Ansari has told his colleagues that he will resign from the post.
Unfortunately Prof. Ansari died on 28th March and today i.e. on 1st April when university reopened after Ramnavmi vacation the news of his death and VC’s behavior with him in last meeting spread between teachers. Everyone assembled in condolence meeting and their unanimous decision was taken that all deans and heads will resign. letter was prepared and everyone present in the campus signed it. It was submitted in VC’s office which was also going to be closed after the condolence meeting held at university office. Since then VC and his team are engaged in managing this crisis and till the filing of this report efforts were on.
