Food and Civil Supplies Minister Saryu Roy has expressed disappointment over no response coming from Chief Minister Raghubar Das after the former raised objections to a Cabinet decision extending lease of 105 closed mines.
“So far I have got no response from him and neither there is any indication about roll back or even reconsideration of the decision. let’s see what happens in the days to come,” said Saryu Roy on Wednesday.
Notably the Minister has raised a red flag over the decision made in a Cabinet meeting on December 28 in which he was not present. The Cabinet had approved the proposal of the Mines and Geology Department extending the lease to 21 iron ore mines along with others that were shut down in the want of lease extension.
“The extensions were given in one go which is not the job of the Cabinet. It is up to the Department to grant the lease while the Cabinet should just frame policies. It was an executive decision and was wrong on the part of the Cabinet to take a call. This is a difference of perception and I have expressed my reservations on that,” added the Minister pitching strongly for course correction.
