If State Director General of Police DK Pandey has hopped from one puja pandal to other in Ranchi un-spotted and un-noticed by the devotees and the pedestrians back in the hinterland of Jharkhand’s Garhwa district DIG police Palamu Saket Kumar Singh was stopped by the cops on duty. DIG faced shrill whistling by the cops all to stop vehicle!

The DIG in the designation plate free vehicle was trying to go into the one way route when the cops on duty in Garhwa district curtly asked the man on wheel not to go in the direction of one way route. The cops learnt later that the vehicle they had so stopped was not of any commoner but of the DIG police Palamu.  Then came a shower of salutations but no embarrassment said sources.

DIG Saket K Singh confirmed this ‘incident’ saying the cops did their duty very well. “I appreciate the cops were alert not to allow any vehicle to take the one way route direction and when my vehicle came on the scene the cops did what was expected of them. I feel happy that my vehicle wherein I was sitting like any ordinary commoner with no arms wielding jawans sitting behind me in any noticeable manner had this taste of police action which earns a patting and no letting down of the cops."

DIG said, "I went to Garhwa and Polpol. All in plain ordinary clothes."  Asked why this adventure which is no less theatrical he said very coolly and calmly ‘See my vehicle was stopped when it was trying to enter the one way route. This is no theatrics. It is more a realistic approach to know and find if the cops are really delivering."

DIG said just for a sporadic episode in latehar’s NawaToli where some communal tension erupted for a brief period puja and muharram remained  incident free in latehar, Garhwa and Palamu districts of this police range.

About latehar’s episode DIG said it was controlled with swift and transparent action of the police with co operation from both the communities.

However he said police vigil would remain high every where for 2 more days. Police vigil was evident as the effigy of Ravan was burnt in Daltonganj on Thursday amidst thousands of Hindus and Muslims in the Shivajee maidan here.
