Deputy inspector general (DIG) Kolhan, Saket Kumar Singh on Monday reviewed the undetected cases of murder registered with the police station across Jamshedpur.
Singh later told the reporters that they have instructed the police to get such undetected cases which are linked to property dispute at the earliest.
The DIG also informed that the 300 posts of police assistants for which a recruitment drive had started at the Golmuri police line in April will be given appointment letter for their posting in East Singhbhum district by August 15. Singh had visited Jamshedpur on Monday and held a review meeting with the senior SP, Anoop T Mathew and SP (City) Prashant Anand.
Singh, when asked, said the law and order situation in the city was not that bad. But still the police had to be more pro-active in stopping crimes like snatching, theft, loot and arms-peddling in the city.
"A number of firing incidents has taken place at few localities in the city in the recent past, but the police have also been succeeded to nab those involved in such incidents. The overall law and order situation in the city is not as bad," said the DIG.
The senior police officer had also discussed about the vehicular traffic system in the city with senior SP, SP (city) and DSP (traffic) and asked them to continue the helmet-checking drive rigorously so as to curb fatal mishaps involving the two-wheeler riders.
Vehicular traffic, the major concern during the season will be under the administration’s scanner from this week as this issue is also an impediment in the way of organizing smooth festivals.
