Dhenga village clash: Yogendra Sao gets bail

Published on:

The district and sessions judge court of Hazaribagh granted bail to former Minister Yogendra Sao on Saturday. District and sessions judge Vishnukant Sahay has given him bail in Barkagaon PS case no. 167/15 related with the incident clash between police and public on August 14. Sao will have to submit two sureties of Rs10,000 each for coming out of jail in the case.

Congress leader Yogendra Sao is in jail for over a month in this case. On August 14, he had organised a rally at Barkagaon defying Section 144 imposed there. Near R&R Colony of NTPC at Dhenga village the mob turned violent and police used force to control the mob in which some people had got bullet injuries.

After about a fortnight Sao, who was absconding after this incident, was arrested from a hotel in Ranchi. Her wife MlA Nirmala Devi was also arrested during last Assembly session in this case. A week ago the same court had granted her bail.

Hearing on the bail petition of Yogendra Sao concluded on October 15 and Saturday was fixed as the date of order. However, despite getting bail in the case Sao has to face other obstacles too as a court of Ranchi, where hearing of horse-trading case related with upper house election of 2011, has already rejected his bail petition. Also, a court of Chatra has issued production warrant against Sao in a case related with CCl’s Amrapali Project of Tandwa. It was in talks that Chatra police will take him in custody tomorrow on the basis of this production warrant.
