Gifting a sapling a day for the last 300 days with over 3000 in the next five years is the target of a resident here in the coal capital to improve the environment.
Milton Parthsarthi , a man in his mid 40s initiated gifting saplings to people of all walks of life with the promise to plant them and save them for future generations. Milton, an insurance personnel as well as a political worker, got the idea during the Corona lockdown when he was alone .
He said, the scenes outside the hospital located in my locality Nootandih forced me to think what shall be my role to contribute towards betterment of society.
Then the idea to gift a sapling to people striked as it would help in a clean environment and enhance natural oxygen in coal city.
He started his work of gifting plants on August 22, 2021 and first to receive the sapling was Dhanbad MP PN Singh who has planted the gifted plant in his country yard.And the plan still continues without break .
"I have received a good response from people whom I gifted the sapling, '' said Milton . If for some reasons fails to gift any day owing work pressure he ensures that the next day two were gifted.
One of his recipients Rama Sinha said , The idea is good and the plant gifted by him has been planted in my garden of which I take utmost care .
Milton gets his supply of sapling from a city based nursery and mostly the plants happen to be fruit bearing one or that of Pipal.
When asked from where he received funds for purchase of plants Milton said, IT my humble contribution to mother nature thus makes out from personal expense .
