Dhanbad MLA seeks better health facilities at Govt hospitals

Published on:

MLA Raj Sinha once again has raised issues relating poor functioning of Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH) as well as Sadar Hospital of Dhanbad in assembly and demanded for improving health care facilities.

Sinha told the House that Sadar Hospital in the heart of town has become a referral hospital and in the month of February about 400 patients including  women patients and children were referred to other hospitals owing to the hospital lacking resources.

He claimed despite  the presence of female doctors and nurses, pregnant women are referred to other hospitals, causing great difficulties to local and poor women. Sinha demanded from the government to conduct a high-level inquiry into the referral of patients from Dhanbad Sadar Hospital to other hospitals and to immediately improve the medical facilities for women and children in Sadar Hospital, so that the common poor people of Dhanbad can get proper and correct treatment.

As far as Shaheed Nirmal MahtoMedical College and* Hospital (SNMMCH) is concerned Sinha told the House that the condition of the emergency ward of this is in the worst of worst  condition . He said that the oxygen  plant and pipeline laid at a cost of Rs. 7 crores have become dilapidated and useless, and all the oxygen regulators installed in the emergency ward have been stolen. The brunt of which has to be borne by thousands of patients coming here in case of emergency.

Sinha  demanded from  government to conduct a high level investigation into the misappropriation of government revenue in the emergency department of SNMMCH and to immediately repair the medical system by installing regulators along with the dilapidated oxygen pipelines, so that the common people of Dhanbad can get convenience at time of emergency.

It is noteworthy that the common poor patients of Dhanbad district including the entire Koyalanchal and the surrounding districts including Jamtada and Giridih  are dependent on SNMMCH for emergency treatment but get a raw deal once referred here for treatment.
