Dhanbad mayor Chandrashekhar Agarwal drew flak on Saturday after unwittingly hoisting the national flag upside-down at the 70th Republic Day ceremony in Dhanbad Municipal Corporation’s office.
A local social activist Amit Kumar Sinha wrote a letter to the concerned police station on Saturday highlighting the alleged casual attitude of the municipal corporation and the mayor towards the national flag and demanding actions.
“Many people have slammed the mayor for hoisting the flag up-side-down. Later, the DMC staff had to re-hoist the flag correctly,” said Sinha. In his defense, Agarwal said that he was unable to see that the flag was upside-down as it was furled. Necessary actions will be taken against the people responsible for this mistake, he added.
