DGP Rajiv Kumar suspended officers in-charge of Chutia and Bundu Police Stations along with the investigating officer of the mysterious case from immediate effect on Tuesday for the alleged negligence in the murder case, where the girl (Priti) mysteriously surfaced after proclaimed dead by the police after investigations.
“The offices involved in the investigation of the case related to Priti have been suspended for the negligence on their part while investigating it,” said Kumar. According to an official release of police spokesperson OC Chutia Krishna Murari, along with the then OC Bundu Sanjay Kumar and IO of the case SI Surendra Kandulna has been suspended by the DGP.
Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to CID and an explanation has been sought form DSP Bundu Ram Sarek Rai. The decision was taken by the DGP after a meeting held with the ADG (CID) SN Pradhan, IG (Ranchi Zone) MS Bhatia and Ranchi SSP Prabhat Kumar. Statement of Priti, on the other hand, could not be recorded even on Tuesday as the court was adjourned by the time she reached there. Priti was taken to the court for recording her version of the story that stirred a hornet’s nest by exposing police’s method of investigation.
On Tuesday afternoon police had taken Priti to the Civil Court however, by the time the court was adjourned for the day. The Bundu Police had reached the court at 12.20 pm whereas the court’s was over by 12 noon. Priti’s statement will be recorded tomorrow in the court of Judicial Magistrate Manoj Kumar Sharma.
Priti’s statement is likely to expose the skeleton in police’s closet. The girl was reported to be dead on February 15, 2013 and based on the confessions three youths were put behind bars in connection with the case. However, after more than one year of the case the girl surfaced only to highlight the miscarriage of justice by subverting facts and suppressing truths.
