In a bid to bridge the gap between police and public, Ranchi Police on Sunday launched one of its most ambitious programmes - ‘Police Aapke Dwar’ where both police and the public together will try to strengthen security situation in different localities of the State Capital. Addressing a gathering of Police personnel and Police Mitra at Aryabhatta Auditorium in Ranchi on Sunday, DGP DK Pandey said that the day will prove to be a landmark in the field of security for Jharkhand and Ranchi Police.

“The motive of this programme is to connect Mohalla Committees with Police, to understand them, give them respite from their problems whether it is related to the security, health or other things……they will note it down and convey the problem to Police Control Room and PCR will respond to it quickly. If the matter is not related to Police, it will be conveyed to the concerned department,” said the DGP. A WhattsApp group is also being formed involving Mohalla Committees, Beat Officers, Police Stations and Senior Police Officials to enable regular give and take of messages among them, he added.

“Efforts are also being made to provide letter boxes in different localities so that people who do not want to get connected through WhattsApp group may also convey their messages though these letter boxes which will be duly responded by the police officials,” said the DGP.

Police, according to DGP, will go to each and every locality so that they may feel safe and secure. The initiative has already been taken in 20 different localities of the State capital on Sunday with the inauguration of ‘Police Aapke Dwar’ programme.

SSP Kuldeep Dwivedi said that it was an ambitious project for Ranchi Police under which police and public together will try to solve their problems for which Shakti Commandos and Beat Officers have been trained to befriend with Mohalla Committees so that terror could be created among criminals.

“Women Shakti Commandos will provide security to School, College and other girls for which 47 Beat Officers, 40 Shakti Commandos and 10 Women Police Officials have been given training for three days,” said the SSP. They have been told how to behave friendly with the common man and also the tricks to solve their problems as the time demands a change in the working of police force, said the SSP.

The SSP further said that Mohalla Community will be formed in each of the localities connecting beat officers and Shakti Commandos to it and DSP rank official will keep an eye over it.

“Till date Mohalla Committees have been formed in the areas coming under 16 police Stations where CCTV cameras will also be installed as per requirement,” said the Dwivedi.

Each Mohalla Samiti will consist of 4 to 15 members in it and will be monitored by a DSP level officer. Mohalla Samities will also try to depute Chowkidars in their localities.

The DGP also felicitated constables worked well in their fileds and a demo on Shakti App was also presented during the programme.
