DGP Aapke Dwaar programme through web conferencing saw two persons in Palamu speaking to state DGP Rajeev Kumar on Tuesday. The two persons wanted to know the status of their passport verification.
Stating this SP Palamu YS Ramesh said one case was dated November 2013. The Daltonganj town police station had rejected the case citing a mismatch of the photograph. Ramesh said the photograph of the applicant on the passport form did not match with the person who dropped in for verification.
The other case is of this May month where time is for its disposal and there is no any delay. Character verification is to be completed by police in 15 days time but in the event of some problems there is 21 days slot for this.
Palamu police are meeting the deadline and there is zero pendency of this kind of case in this district added Ramesh.
Sources said Rajeev Kumar deserves kudos for doing this kind of show but residents demand something more from him. There was one DGP in Jharkhand who wanted to reach out to public through a one act drama 'Phir Subah Hogi'.
One other DGP in the state used to receive post cards from commoners instead of allowing them to crowd his office at Ranchi. Rajeev Kumar has set a new meaning to this high post but he will get more inputs on policing if he spares 30 minutes every week for a direct chat with commoners of any district said many here. Inane talks the DGP should cut immediately a pointed and precise input he should entertain rather.
One lady resident asking for her name not to be published said ' It will be too good if the DGP on any fine morning gives a ring to any resident of Palamu and ask him/her of the doings of the police here. This will give the DGP the kind of unbiased and free opinion about policing here'.
Asked as to how the DGP will have the resident's number pat came the response from the lady ' The DGP should start giving calls to BSNl users whose names are in BSNl telephone directory'.
A foot ball player had this comment to make “The DGP should speak to chowkidars of respective police stations as this will give him a peep into the police scenario”. The DGP should not confine himself to knowing all about passports and character verification as he should also try to find out other problems like false implication of person in cases, harassment to married women and cases of orphans etc.
