DGP, senior officers visit remote villages in Palamu

State DGP D K Pandey along with ADG Ops Murari Lal Meena and other senior officers  spent Wednesday night at the Pathra security camp under Harihurganj police station near Bihar border. State DGP has been promoting  honey and haat in the villages of Pathra and Sarsout to help their residents.

Speaking to this correspondent DGP Pandey said, “There is a very dense forest near Sarsout. Here is a hillock too. Here there can be a good work of honey culture. It will augment the income of the poor here. Residents here are given training in beehive collection. It will be a very profitable affair for them.”

As for village haat DGP said, “Locals told me on Tuesday evening when we reached here by chopper that there is held no haat at Pathra. The villagers do daily buying in the haat that is held far off from their village or prefer to go into the Bihar side. The villagers wanted start of the haat here.”

The DGP said, “As SDO Chhaterpur B Thakur and BDO and CO were there with us we immediately asked these officials to identify suitable land for holding the village haat here. The civil officials have assured us of the action in this regard.”

Pandey explained as to why he and Meena and others which included DIG police Vipul Shukla, DIG CRPF J Paul, SP STF H Chowdhury, SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha, Commandant 134 battalion of CRPF A D Sharma, SDPO Chhaterpur Shambhu Kumar Singh and others spent their night at Pathra security camp saying “Our CM has asked officials to hold Gram Choupal. CM directed this in his latest review meeting with his departmental secretaries and DCs of districts. The concept of Gram Choupal is too good. It needs to be brought down to earth. We did it here. We found good takers of it as well”

“We held Gram Choupal right on Tuesday evening after coming down by chopper. There was a huge crowd of villagers. They had myriad problems like irrigation, education, health and pension.  We met some old pensioners who told us that their thumb does not give proper impression for biometric matching and for this mismatch their pension is on hook.”

DGP said people wanted more and more irrigational facilities there, which are too genuine as they told us that for want of gate water from the Bootaney dam just goes waste. It can be stopped with gate but it is lying in limbo over the years the villagers told us.

In this Gram Choupal the villagers wanted regular visit of doctors there. The DGP said he right there got called one 108 Ambulance for these people asking them to utilize it if and when medical emergency so arises.

Sources said ADG (Ops) Murari Lal Meena even played volley ball with the cops this Wednesday morning as a token of oneness with constabulary here.  DGP and his team left for Ranchi around 11 in the day today.
