RN Choubey, Director General, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas visited CMPDI on Monday. He had a meeting with. AK Debnath, CMD, CMPDI.
Debnath explained the steps taken by CMPDI in development of coal based non-conventional energy resources and Shale Gas and thanked DGH for assigning challenging job related to identification of prospective shale gas and CBM blocks and preparation of data dossiers on these blocks.
DG, DGH appreciated the jobs accomplished by CMPDI and indicated that there is an important role of CMPDI in delineating future CBM and shale gas blocks and assured DGH’s full co-operation in this endeavor which is of national interest. A detailed presentation was subsequently made before the DG, DGH wherein the area of mutual cooperation between DGH and CMPDI were highlighted. DG, DGH indicated that necessary information generated during CBM exploration might be shared with CMPDI for examining possibility of enlarging National Coal Inventory as many CBM blocks were occurring beyond National Coal Inventory and also suggested CMPDI to examine Shale Gas potentiality in other non-coal bearing sedimentary basin.
He also visited CBM, Environment, Petrography labs and Earth Science Museum, CBM Cell of CMPDI and appreciated the state of the art facility existing in the labs of CMPDI.
