Based on the concept of one of the most important occurrence in Hindu mythology that covers the episode of ‘lord Kartikeya’s birth and protection from evils’, Kritika lok saga will come alive here at an age-old Puja Pandal, Satya Amar lok. The puja pandal carved out aesthetically every year has a unique element of surprise with the blend of fabled touch this year to enchant the devotees.
The depiction of a tale from ‘Shiva Purana’ where a peacock protects the live of Shiv-parvati’s second son, Kartikeya has been selected as a theme to mesmerize the visitors, keeping peacock, one of the most attractive bird, in the centre of the idea.
Standing tall, a replica of a beautiful peacock will greet the devotees at the puja pandal. The large figurine of a peacock has been crafted well with exemplary use of colour combinations that highlights the big peacock tail feathers with usage of pigmented brown, blue, turquoise and light green shades to give an iridescent look to the entire idea.
Sidelining the contemporary series designs that are mostly picked up by the puja samiti members, the idea behind selecting this legendary theme is to make the young generation familiar about some major historic events that connects them with mythology in simple way said the Spokesperson of Satya Amar lok puja samiti, said Suresh Chandra Agarwal, Spokesperson of the puja committee.
One of the most elegant looking puja pandals of the State Capital is 65 ft. long with 44 width and 50 ft. in height. Artisans from Medinipur, West Bengal have been assigned the task of transforming Kritika lok’s vision into reality at a whopping cost of ` 15 lakh. The figurines decked up inside the puja pandal will be 13 feet.
Not just the exterior decoration but keeping in mind the ancient features that gives a picturesque of a Dev lok, the artisans have been advised to decorate the interior as per the mythological concepts.
Kanhu Dey, an artist said, “It is difficult to feature sometime prehistoric as you have to take care of some minute details. Taking clue from the exterior design, we are decorating interior with small peacock statuettes to give vibrant look to the idea. Approximately, five small peacock carvings will be decked inside the puja pandal. Mostly, decoration part will be enhanced more through luminosity.”
