Irate customers smashed the glass panes of a window of SBI branch located in the bazar area of Haidernagar on Saturday. Sources said this incident occurred when there were five cops deployed in the SBI bank branch here. The crowd of depositors collected stones from the road and threw it at the glass panes of a window smashing it completely.
The crowd of depositors just ran out of all patience as the SBI officials were not working with speed and care. Sources said this incident took place when the branch manager was not in his seat inside the bank.
About 400 to 500 depositors were there in this bank. Half of them were women.
DSP Hussainabad MK Mahto has confirmed this stone pelting and smashing of glass panes of a window of the SBI branch in Haidernagar.
DSP conceded that this incident occurred during the presence of the small team of police. He reiterated the crowd was big. Reinforcement was sent there. DSP said he too rushed there to control the situation.
On being asked if the branch manager of this SBI was not in his seat inside the bank on Saturday when this occurrence happened DSP said, ‘the branch manager was definitely not there in the bank. He had gone out to attend the lok adalat. The manager should not have gone so out from the bank at this time when depositors are so in great panic’.
DSP assured that no police case would be initiated against the persons in the crowd who smashed the glass panes of this bank’s window.
He said this move would further vitiate the atmosphere.
He denied that this occurrence was a planned one rather it was done on the spur of the moment and was driven by impatience and apathy of the SBI officials of this branch on Saturday. He agreed with the Pioneer that the crowd of depositors collected stones scattered around the metallic road in Haidernagar. The SBI branch here in Haidernagar resumed working after this initial chaos which lasted for little over half an hour said sources.
