According to Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu, Deoghar has a great potential to become a world class tourist spot that only requires basic infrastructure to be developed around the city. The Governor was addressing a gathering of devotees during the 301st Akhil Bharatiya Satsang Ritwik Sammelan and the 128th birth anniversary of Thakur Anukulchand ji at Deoghar on Sunday.

“It is a great pleasure to be here in Deoghar as several people from across the world visit this place throughout the year to perform Jalabhishek on the Jyotirlinga,” said the Governor. This place could be developed into an important world class tourist spot by making improvements into its basic infrastructure, she said.

According to the Governor, she wanted to visit the place the day she came to Jharkhand. “I wanted to visit the place during Shravani Mela but postponed my trip keeping in mind the problems which might be created for the devotees due to my visit,” she said.

The Governor further added that it was great pride for Jharkhand that Thakur Anukulchand ji came to this pious place in the year 1946 who established Satsang Ashram in Deoghar.

“As per the information, even great personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Deshbandhu Chitranjan Das, Netaji Subhash Chardra Bose, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, lal Bahadur Shashtri and Srikrishna Singh used to visit the place to take his blessings,” she said.
