'Denizens to witness drizzles regularly'

The constant change in weather will influence both Rabi crops cultivation and temperature in the days to come. Impact of early summer, scorching heat and drizzles at regular interval will be witnessed by the denizens. Met department officials state that the constant change in temperature will continue till mid June partially benefiting agricultural sector.

Constant change in temperature is the result of Norwester influence. “Violent thunderstorms in the Gangetic plains of India are locally known as Kal Baisakhi or Norwester has influenced the weather condition of state. These localized events are generally associated with thunderstorms accompanied by strong squally winds and torrential rainfall,” informed, Forecast officer of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Ranchi, Upendra Srivastava.

On March 27 recorded a maximum temperature of 37.8 degree Celsius, making it the hottest day of the month. The weather bulletin released by IMD suggests that the upper air cyclonic circulation over the eastern parts of Bihar and adjoining areas of Jharkhand and West Bengal extending upto 1.5 KM above the mean sea level persists resulting in low pressure over central parts of Bay of Bengal and neighboring areas which enhances chance of rainfall at isolated places in the state.

“Thunderstorms and drizzles will occur in the regular interval. Partly cloudy sky will continue in the long run too. Considering the geographical location and present temperature, crops will be benefited in this specific season too. Crops can badly be affected in two situations, heavy rain with thunderstorms and high wind in extensive areas blowing at certain speed,” added Srivastava.

Temperature variation is major factor and plays pivotal role in growth of crops. “The constant change in climate will affect the crops in the state as everything is dependent on the weather condition but the present scenario will benefit the Rabi crops. If past few years trend is considered, it is noticed that winter season is getting over early. However, if the present situation is considered constant drizzling and partial cloudy sky will help farmers in cultivation, as this time period is favourable for Crops,” Informed, Agro-Met expert of Birsa Agricultural University, A Wadood.
