Delay in decision over BJP State chief irks party cadres

There is a sense of dissatisfaction among the State BJP cadres over the delay in decision over Jharkhand BJP president, which has been pending for the last six months.

According to party’s top office bearers, appointment of the new State BJP boss has been held up due to the indecisive attitude of the central leadership.

State unit of the party was kept out of the BJP’s national presidential elections conducted on January this year as district organisational elections in the state did not reach the 50 per cent mark mandatory for taking part in it.

Now when the process is complete and announcement of party’s State chiefs in five provinces made, delay in regard to Jharkhand baffles party men.

“Since everything is to be decided by Delhi and they have not yet taken any decision in this regard, the matter is still pending with them causing a deep sense of dissatisfaction among the party workers,” said party spokesperson Pradeep Sinha.

The party insiders moreover get a sense that the matter was held up between the tribal and non-tribal controversy as the high command has not been able to decide about the matter about this coveted post.

“They are yet to find out a suitable candidate for the post. The leadership is supposed to be mulling on any tribal candidate but they are not been able to find a suitable face for the post,” said an insider. Names of party vice president Deepak Prakash and training head Ganesh Mishra however, are among the forerunners for the State president.

“There are only two names, that are of Deepak Prakash and Ganesh Mishra coming so far for the post, who are non-tribals and hence the party is supposed to be looking for a new tribal face for the post. Former Chief Minister Arjun Munda could has been the obvious choice, but the party cannot afford to have two power centres in the State at this point of time,” said the leader.

Since the matter is pending for long there is a sense of dissatisfaction among the party workers who have been waiting eagerly to get the names of their new State president.

“All eyes are on Delhi. We are eagerly waiting for the day when the new BJP president is announced from there. Most likely it is to be announced in a day or two. All reports related to organizational elections conducted in the state recently have been submitted to the centre and people have been looking for a local face for the coveted post,” said Deepak Prakash.
