People of coal city on Wednesday witnessed a unique protest at Randhir Verma Square when suddenly bands started playing marriage related tunes next to road side  mini pandals besides placard holding people around the pandals.

This was part of a protest organised by the Decorators Association of Dhanbad that not only formed a human chain but also brought on road the utensils, mining pandals , lighting equipment besides other related items to press for their demand for a hike  in the number of guests during the coming marriage season. Workers of different color related associations that include light and sound ,flower decorators, caterers, generator services and pandal makers took part in the silent demonstration held by maintaining Covid norms. Association district president Pradeep Singh  said ,"Most of us  remain work less for ythe last six months due to cap on guests during the covid period." Singh said, marriage Season that is to commence  soon after the festival season is of limited days according to Hindu panchang  thus permission for hike in guests is needed to save this unorganized business.

Singh claimed ,several of the marriages have been postponed due to guest limit.

The ban has adversely affected over ten lakh persons related directly or indirectly with aforementioned businesses across Jharkhand.

Under this situation we are not even in  position to pay  the employees we have employed ,added Singh while talking to the media here.

The most unfortunate part is that though the union government has allowed 100 guests during marriages the Jharkhand government is yet to notify this change.

Amidst protests we demand for increasing the guest limit up to 300 in marriage function, demanded Singh.
