Decks have been cleared for the setting up of a learner support centre of IGNOU at the Manika degree college Manika in Latehar district.
Sources said a senior functionary of the IGNOU Ranchi visited the college recently and took stock of the infra structural and human resources facilities in the college.
Professor in charge of the Manika degree college Mahender Ram said the college has all to have this IGNOU learner support centre at its campus. Professor in charge said Manika is a highly tribal dominated block where tribal boys and girls just miss out their college studies because of the stark poverty.
Ram said the IGNOU will help stem the abandonment of higher studies by the students of this region as IGNOU courses are easily affordable and accessible too.
Professor in charge said the IGNOU functionary has asked for an empanelment of the academics available in the region.
Sources said BA General and BCom General Courses have been activated here at this learner support centre.
Sources said there are still many formalities to be done for the take off of the IGNOU learner support centre at this Manika degree college Manika.
