DC Ravishankar Shukla alongwith other officials visited the lukaiya village of extremism prone Churchu block of the district on Saturday. Since there is no proper approach road for this village so he travelled on bike and some distance on foot to reach the destination.

DC Shukla got amazed with the situation of that village. Only 17 families are now living in that village and the majority of them are Manjhis, a tribe of Jharkhand. When he enquired the villagers told that the problem which they are facing the most is of drinking water. For drinking water the villagers are dependent on the nearest Dada River which remains dry after the end of rainy season. They said that they use to arrange drinking water from the Chasma’s inside the forest area.

There is an upgraded middle school in the village where there is no facility of water. Taking it seriously DC immediately ordered the officials to arrange deep boring in the village and by the evening four borings were made in that village out of which three have been reported to be functional, including one in the school premises.

Since the block has already been declared ODF, DC ordered the officials to arrange solar energy system in that village as soon as possible so that villagers and students of the school can get safe drinking water without any extra labor. EE PHED Pramod Kumar informed that his department will soon arrange solar energy pumps for that village and within three days the approach road to the village will be made motor-able as per Deputy Commissioner’s order.
