DC unearths bonding in school as child saves meal's egg for mother

District Commissioner Palamu K Srinivasan was on a regular visit to the polling booths that fall under the Chainpur block for the fourth and final phase of voting and he did not have an iota of what he found here to be a touching story of love, bonding and poverty here at a school. A young boy Rikesh Kumar, who studies in the primary class of the Government Primary School at ladee, had very thoughtfully saved an egg from his daily Midday meals in his old school trouser pocket.

Srinivasan was not angry at this little boy’s gesture and approached him for further knowledge of the same. He asked the boy to tell him the reason behind it and found out that the boy had saved it for his mother, who is a malnourished woman. Srinivasan asked the boy to save it and realised the pain behind such actions that compel students to do so.

Moreover, Srinivasan directed the school authorities to keep and maintain the cleanliness at the kitchen and utensils in which the Midday meals are cooked to ensure the safety of the school students here. The security guards accompanying the DC were also touched by the entire incident.

The Midday meals on every Wednesday consist of rice, dal and a boiled egg. Similar incident was also reported from Neora Middle School wherein a girl was found to be saving her boiled eggs every time she was served with one in a polythene bag for her folks back at home.

Meanwhile, the ladee Government Primary School has been made a cluster for 27 polling parties for the voting session on December 12.

Moreover, Srinivasan found the school to be provided with safe, clean drinking water facility and also urged the Chainpur Block’s Block Development Officer (BDO) to build a soak pit to conserve the waste tube-well water here. He also assured that the vigil will be upped for three clusters at Hutar, Bodee and Karsote.

With the State Election Commission’s approval, a polling booth at Karsote has been relocated at Purna Tola, which is situated at a minimum distance of five kilometers.

Simultaneously, Srinivasan also took a trip to the Neora Government Middle School’s four booths that have been set up for polling and took a look at the teaching system here.

Notably, Christians are contesting rural polls from Chorhat, Nawadeeh in Chainpur Block.
