Hazaribagh Sadar Hospital, which is the biggest Government hospital of old Hazaribagh district has been in news since last few months due to irregularities and ill-management.
DC Hazaribagh Sunil Kumar has taken it seriously and he has issued some directives for the hospital authorities as well as formed a committee of administrative officers to look after in to the day-to-day activities of the hospital and to report to him.
In the month of May, a team of State Women’s Commission was here in connection of investigation of a case of women atrocity.
The team members visited the hospital at that time and after this visit they openly criticised the hospital management especially hospital staffs for their ill-behavior and inferior quality of service provided by them.
The women’s commission team later gave a report to the Deputy Commissioner of Hazaribagh especially against the hospital management.
After getting this report, DC Sunil Kumar sent SDO Jugnu Minj on a surprise visit of hospital where he too found irregularities and ill-management.
SDO gave the hospital authorities some time to submit their written explanation on entire thing and after getting it submitted a detailed report to the Deputy Commissioner.
SDO’s report confirmed that the allegations of team of women’s commission were correct and the news which are regularly coming in local dailies are also correct.
DC Sunil Kumar immediately removed the CS and wrote to the State Government to suspend him with immediate effect. The Government acted on his recommendation and some days ago, new CS, Dr Dharamveer took over the charge here.
Now, the Deputy Commissioner has given the district supply officer and district planning officer the charge of looking into the day to day activity of the hospital and had directed them to report him regularly.
He had also directed the SDO to make surprise visits of Sadar Hospital especially to see whether the doctors on duty at that time are present or not. With these steps he had tried to give a message that in his effort to bring back hospital on track he is not going to spare anyone and everyone should be attentive on his duty.
