Deputy Commissioner, Palamu, Shantanu Kumar Agarhari has instructed the officials of Palamu district to stop the use of single-use plastic. He has said that 'Swachhata Hi Seva' programme is being organized from September 11 to October 2, 2019. Through this, public awareness especially on plastic waste management has been started. This campaign will continue in the next cycle even after 2 October 2019.
The Deputy Commissioner has directed through letter to DEO, DSE, Panchayati Raj Officer, Commanding Officer of NCC-44 Battalion, all BDOs and Nehru Yuva Kendra, District Coordinator that single use plastic to all Panchayat representatives, Swachhagrahis to read the hygiene message in the gram Sabha and make the villagers aware of plastic prevention. On 2 October, it was decided to celebrate 2019 as Swachh Bharat Divas in the district, DC added.
