DC sets up district social stigma (prevention) committee

A district Social Stigma (Prevention) Committee has been formed here with DC Palamu Shashi Ranjan as its chairman.

Ranjan said this committee has been formed to make people aware and assure that those who had once tested positive and later tested negative and had done institutional or home quarantine are in fact the victor & the champion as they have defeated this Coronavirus.

Ranjan said such people should be appreciated for their will power, stamina, immunity and courage to take on this stealthy Coronavirus and as such they be loved, cared and not any stigma attached to them.

The DC said this committee has men from civil society besides our officials, who are very clear in their mind – the fighter of Covid 19 deserves no discrimination but all inclusion in the run of life.Ranjan agreed there are incidents where such people are seen with squint eyes when they ought to have been seen as a hero for defeating Coronavirus.

Ranjan said this Coronavirus is defeated by maintaining health protocol like social distancing, hand hygiene, wearing mask but big of all inner strength to come out victorious.

One such man in Daltonganj was prevented from taking tea at a road side tea stall as one there had whispered into the ears of the tea seller about his  ‘Corona history.’

An elderly woman was invited to sing pre marriage song in a family but the gentle lady was soon seen off when the family learnt she had spent her days in the Covid care centre said sources.
