DC questions officials on frequent power cuts

Getting several complaints regarding the bad service of electricity department, DC Sunil Kumar called the officers of both JSEB and DVC in his office. In the meeting the DVC officials presented the chart of power supply by them to JSEB Hazaribagh.

‘When the supply is sufficient then why you are making power cuts several times a day, both in town area and in rural areas’, DC questioned the JSEB officials.

There was no answer of these questions and queries, so the officers of Jharkhand State Electricity Board, Hazaribagh office, kept silent in the meeting. DC Sunil Kumar instructed them to publicise the date and hours of power cut from now onwards for the convenience of people.

DC also queried about the short supply made by DVC in some months after going through the data given by the officers of Damodar Valley Corporation. DVC officers informed him that a huge amount is due on JSEB and when the board fails to pay monthly amount as per agreement then corporation cuts the supply.

The officers of electricity board raised the matter of increased power requirement for the town area, because the consumption has increased. DC then asked the DVC officials about the mode of getting more power for the town area.

The DVC officials said that as per our contract with JSEB we are supplying power to Hazaribagh. In that contract the load of power to be supplied to Hazaribagh is mentioned and we adhere to it. However they suggested that if Hazaribagh needs more power then the local officials should try for it through their state officials.

DC Sunil Kumar instructed the officers of Hazaribagh electricity board to prepare a proposal of requisite increased load to Hazaribagh district as well as Hazaribagh town and to send it to their higher officials and a copy to him also.
