Coronavirus vaccines that are to be kept at 2 to 8 degree Celsius have generated a fancy for cooler and freezer.
DC Palamu Shashi Ranjan on Saturday when there were dry runs in Palamu at two places one at the Medinirai medical college hospital Daltonganj and the other at Chhaterpur sub divisional hospital ‘walked in cooler and freezer’.
District reproductive child health officer Anil Kumar Singh said DC walked in a cooler which is called WIC and he also walked in a freezer called WIF in medical lingo. WI stands for ‘walk in’.
Singh said in the freezer the temperature was minus six degree Celsius while in the cooler it was 5.2 degree Celsius when DC had a walk in both of these equipment. Singh said the temperature loggers were working all perfectly when DC was in WIC and WIF.
Ranjan said, “I walked in both WIC and WIF. It was to see the inside things. WIC and WIF are working well.”
He said he had then no warm headgear but had enough body warmer that one wears normally like the winter warmer inner wear and blazer.
Ranjan said he just got down to know the availability of the logistics for the consignments of the Coronavirus vaccines here.
The DC said DRCHO Anil Kr Singh briefed him about the storage facility of the Coronavirus vaccines where there are available back up power systems and back up freezer as well to meet any exigency arising out of the erratic power supply or supply getting any down with technical snag. He said this is a very good work done by Singh and his team to save vaccines in any unconducive situation.
Sources said the dry runs here on Saturday at 2 locations in Palamu were all well carried out as DRCHO Singh even left for Chhaterpur on Saturday 48 Kms away from Daltonganj to see that the dry run in this sub divisional hospital Chhaterpur is in accordance with the directive. Singh joined the team here at Medinirai medical college hospital. Singh said he found things at Chhaterpur health hub well managed. The dry runs here have generated intense inquisitiveness about this vaccine here.
