DC Sunil Kumar made a surprise visit of Sadar Hospital, Hazaribagh, on Tuesday noon. During his more than an hour stay in hospital campus he took a close look of facilities available there, problems of patients, doctors and staffs and the causes due to which this hospital remains regularly in news headlines.

Along with SDO Jugnu Minj, whom the DC had given responsibility to make surprise visits of hospital and to make him acquainted with irregularities and malpractices going on there, DC reached hospital premises at about 12 noon. He first visited the block where outdoor patients are treated. As the news of arrival of DC spread in the campus both CS and DS rushed towards the outdoor and joined him. DC Sunil Kumar then visited the wards, store, kitchen and new building of the divisional hospital and asked several questions about the things going on in hospital.

Regarding shifting of wards in the new building, it was said that since lift has not been fitted yet so the wards have not been shifted yet. DC called the executive engineer of PWD in the hospital campus and directed him to complete the work at an early date so that the patients could get better wards in this hospital. He also directed the executive engineer to make a plan of shifting of present parking area and to develop an attractive garden at that place.

In wards he directed the hospital administration to strictly adhere on the parameters of cleanliness and to minimize the number of attendants. In kitchen he was told that there is a shortage of manpower so distribution of food takes time. DC suggested the hospital administration to use trolleys to distribute food and to arrange manpower on contract by themselves.

During this visit DC directed the CS and DS to keep live saving medicines always available in the store so that what had happened two days ago should not happen again. Two days ago a boy died of snake bite because anti-venom injection was not available. He also directed them to send a copy of roaster duty of doctors so that he can check their presence as complaints are regularly coming that most of the doctors never gives time in the hospital.

In the hospital campus during DC’s visit a talk was going on that this visit is the result of complaints made by State Women’s Commission team and it’s Chairperson Mahua Majhi. Two days ago Mahua Majhi had complained to the health minister Rajendra Singh that the situation of Hazaribagh Sadar Hospital has not changed yet and then Rajendra Singh had directed the DC to take strong action to change the situation.
