Official work at Government offices other than the Secretariat and some important offices have completely been stalled across the State due to the strikes called by subordinate staff. Schools of affiliated colleges as well as Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) workers in Ranchi are also on strike.
Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Vinay Kumar Chaubey issued a notice to the subordinate staff warning them to rejoin till February 5 or they will be dismissed from the service. "If the workers do not come back to work after February 5, process of their dismissal will be started," said the DC. The work at the offices however, is somehow, being managed by dividing the work among the newly recruited Deputy Collectors, who are disposing the urgent works, he added.
But work in the government offices is definitely getting hampered due to the striking employees, he said. Agitating employees, on the other hand, are not ready to call of their strike unless getting any formal assurance from the government on the demands made by them. They have put 18 demands before the government which, according to them are very soft demands.
"We have no information about any notice issued by the district administration, but if any such letter has actually issued then we will sit together on Wednesday and decide on it," said an employee requesting anonymity. He, however, said that there are bleak chances of calling off the strike until and unless their demands are met at least partially and committee be formed for the rest of the demands.
State Government earlier, taking the strike of subordinate staffs at district Collectorates and Mufassil offices seriously, has already ordered to take action against them. According to the official notice, the strike is against the provisions of Jharkhand Government Servant's service rules' rule number 8 (ii). The Government has asked all the Deputy Commissioners to identify the striking employees and take disciplinary action against them.
