A meeting of the District Mining Task Force was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay for effective action against illegal mining and mining mafia.Referring to the action of the previous meeting, the DC said that for effective action, all the departments concerned should join the campaign with full coordination and take joint action against the mafia involved in illegal mining, transportation.Several important instructions were given by the DC in the meeting.
She directed to demolish all illegal crushers especially those located in Eco Sensitive Zone (ESZ) Bhuswa, Tepsa, Bonga, Padma, Sadam etc. at the earliest.She asked all the illegal crushers operating in Dhabsaloniya, Barkatha to be identified and take action to destroy them.The Deputy Commissioner directed to conduct surprise checks by the concerned circle officer, station in-charge and district mining officer in respect of complaints received against the magistrate and police officer posted at two checkposts set up under Katkamdag police station.
The DC directed to operate the check post seriously and gave it to the concerned circle officer and the concerned sub-divisional police officer for this work. All the concerned circle officers were asked to ensure prompt action to check illegal sand mining from the rivers of Barkagaon, Barhi, Keredari etc blocks.Along with this, all the station in-charges were instructed to take action to stop illegal sand mining.Exploration, transportation, operation of crushers, deforestation, operation of saw mills are completely prohibited and illegal in the eco-sensitive zone. Also, according to the guidelines issued by the NGT, sand mining has to be stopped.She directed to start the campaign on a large scale in the next few days to destroy illegal mining and crushers for stone quarrying by dodging and taking action against the stone mafia.Apart from the Deputy Commissioner, Additional Collector Rakesh Roshan, SDO Sadar, SDO Barhi, Police Officer, DMO Ajit Kumar, District Transport Officer Vijay Kumar and others were present in the meeting.
