As the number of schools involved in minority students scholarship scam on Tuesday Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner held discussions with the concerned departmental officials to get details of the scan.
Though neither of the education department officials who participated in the meeting were willing to say anything on record reports suggest scam has been detected in 162 schools involving hundreds of fake minority students against whom scholarships were withdrawn in connivance with middlemen and department of social welfare.
It's worth mentioning that Dhanbad has over 2600 schools both government and private schools including public schools.
Some well established public schools that have high fee structure also are involved in this scam. In some cases a very high number of minority students have been named by these schools as eligible candidates for scholarship.
Dhanbad deputy commissioner got details of the entire process application and withdrawal of the scholarship in the name of fake minority students .Sources said, a high level committee involving senior adminitive officers is to be setup for holding an inquiry into the scan here in Dhanbad.
