DC Hazaribagh Sunil Kumar has taken the problem of encroachment of roads especially in the town seriously and has directed the officials to start an anti-encroachment drive and to identify the spots in the town which can be marked as parking sites for vehicles.
Due to increasing encroachment of the roads in the main town, traffic jams have become a routine problem from 10 am to 8 pm. Newsmen, local leaders, social workers were demanding to make the roads encroachment free for the last many months. The vehicles of senior officials of district administration, including that of the Deputy Commissioner experienced this traffic jam problem due to encroachment several times during election.
To solve the problem, the DC called a meeting to find out the solution. In this meeting it was decided that a team of officers including trainee IAS Jeeshan Quamar, SDO, DSP, EO Municipal Council and CO Sadar will identify the points in town from where removal of encroachment is necessary immediately and will also choose the spots to be marked as parking sites.
DC Sunil Kumar directed the executive officer of the municipal council to make a general announcement in entire town that the anti-encroachment drive is going to start soon. On Friday, the public announcement started in which the administration has requested everyone to remove their structures from the roads/Government lands.
In this meeting it was also decided that yellow and red lines will be marked on the sites of important roads and those vehicles which will be found parked in the red zone will be fined. The parking sites will be identified by yellow lines. Some more busy roads will be declared as one-way during prime time i.e. 9 to 11 in the morning and 4 to 6 in the evening.
The DC also directed the officials to remove the fish shops scattered in the town and to give them a fixed spot in the lane of Malviya Marg adjacent to City Trend. The DC also directed the DSP and other officials to stop the practice of taking passengers from road sides. The bus owners have been directed to start and finish their journey from the premises of Bus Stand. Those buses which use to start from the gate of Hazaribagh Stadium have been told to keep their buses inside the private bus stand premises.
It is expected that the process of giving warning to the encroachers will go on for a few days more. In the meantime, alternative arrangements for developing parking sites and shifting of footpath sellers shop will be made and then the drive will start. The denizens will get relief after January 14.
