DAV Public School Sector-4 Celebrates 'Community Service Week'

Published on:

DAV Public School Sector-4 recently observed a heartwarming 'Community Service Week,' embracing values of love, empathy, compassion, and charity. Principal  Sarbendhu Shekhar Kar highlighted the essence of selfless giving by recalling verses from the Gita, emphasizing that donations given with a sense of duty, without expectations of reward, at the right place and time, and to deserving individuals, are considered 'sattvic' (pure) donations. He noted that the school has always supported such acts of charity and inspired its students to serve humanity.

Throughout the week, students from classes 3 to 12 collected various items as part of the initiative. On August 17, under the guidance and supervision of Principal Kar, teachers, and LMC member Shashi Bhushan, these collected items were distributed to underprivileged and needy individuals in Bokaro. The students visited slums and marginalized communities to distribute essential supplies, gaining firsthand insight into the struggles and needs of these communities.

In closing, Principal Kar emphasized that the Vedas extol the importance of service. He urged individuals to avoid hoarding beyond necessity and to use their resources to support the weak and needy. He reiterated that giving, whether it be milk, flowers from a garden, knowledge, water from a well, or food and money, only increases when shared.
